No. Learning about Islam commits you to nothing. Many of the women in this study read, asked, and sat with the question for months or years before their shahāda. Take the time you need.

No. Arabic is a gift and worth pursuing, and not knowing it makes no one less Muslim. Anyone who makes you feel locked out of your own faith because of language has misunderstood the tradition. More on this on the Classical Arabic page.

This is often the hardest part, and I will not pretend otherwise. My own research documents what converts face from families, and my own story includes a custody case. You deserve to know that going in, and you deserve people around you who understand it. That is much of why this project exists.

That is the question this entire project studies. Feeling Muslim is not the same thing as being Muslim, and it tends to grow slowly, over years, tended by the people around you. If it is not there yet, nothing is wrong with you. See what 459 women said about it.
